1-833-LEG-CRAMPAgeing can bring progressively worsening conditions like peripheral artery disease (PAD) and osteoarthritis of the knee. While these issues are common, the significant negative impact they can have on health and quality of life shouldn’t be underestimated. Worse, finding effective treatment, especially when you have underlying conditions, can be difficult. At AVA Vascular, we specialize in minimally invasive treatment for PAD, knee osteoarthritis, and other conditions to preserve your well-being and get you back to the activities you love.
Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is caused by fatty plaques building up in the arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow. It most commonly affects arteries in the legs. Patients may experience only mild symptoms at first, but over time cramping and pain become more severe. In addition, nonhealing sores, recurrent infections, and even amputation can result from inadequate blood flow caused by PAD. Our outpatient procedures open circulation to promote healing, reverse painful symptoms, and prevent serious complications.
Osteoarthritis (or “wear and tear” arthritis) of the knee is first typically treated with medications, injections, and/or physical therapy to manage pain. When those techniques fail to provide relief, knee replacement surgery follows. Unfortunately, this leaves patients unwilling or unable to undergo surgery with no effective options. Now genicular artery embolization (GAE), an interventional radiological technique that blocks blood flow to the lining of the knee (synovium), offers an alternative to reduce painful inflammation and restore mobility without surgery.
Loma Linda, a city of approximately 25,000 located in San Bernadino County, was incorporated in 1970. Originally called “Mound City” when it was founded as a development of tourist hotels in the 1800s, Loma Linda (“beautiful hill” in Spanish) was renamed in the late 1890s. The city prides itself on being a health-conscious community and is home to both Loma Linda University and Medical Center and the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center. It’s also notable as a Blue Zone, an area where longevity is notably higher than the national average.
AVA Vascular provides advanced specialized care through outpatient procedures that don’t require hospital stays, general anaesthesia, or extended, painful recovery periods. Conveniently located in nearby Murrieta, we serve patients in Loma Linda and throughout the Southern California area. Whether PAD is causing painful cramps or nonhealing wounds or excruciating knee osteoarthritis is limiting your mobility, we can help.
